This role leads all inbound, outbound, and intra-company freight and customs operations, including budgeting and cost control, sourcing and managing logistics providers, as well as planning, coordinating, and monitoring logistics operations. As eSolution furniture continues to grow as a leader in e-commerce fulfillment in the furniture industry, the Logistics Director will also lead the end-to-end distribution network design and related business cases to deliver improved lead times to customers and reduce total logistics costs. In scope for this position are customs brokers and all modes of transportation, including parcel, LTL, last-mile residential carriers, truckload, ocean freight, and air freight.

 

Key high-level responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the day-to-day leadership of the operations, including the operations team of customs and logistics specialists, including Logistics Managers, Logistics Supervisors, Coordinators, and Analysts.
  • Select carriers and negotiate contracts and rates for all modes of transportation (primarily ocean freight, truckload, LTL, parcel, and residential last mile).
  • Select and manage customs brokers; implement and improve trade compliance and customs processes.
  • Oversee the movement of inventory between locations (internal transfers) to ensure that transportation is optimized.
  • Implement and manage freight invoice auditing procedures.
  • Analyze and improve financial performance, service goals, safety, and compliance.
  • Analyze transportation costs between stocking locations to minimize freight costs.
  • Implement and manage the ERP and the Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Lead, in collaboration with distribution operations and other departments, the design of the distribution network including business cases and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Develop and execute various strategies to improve the flow of products to customers while minimizing handling delays and costs.
  • Interact regularly with department heads and subject matter experts to ensure that company’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction.
  • Lead our freight brokerage division, Bush Logistics Services.
  • Travel to distribution centers or logistics providers, as required.
  • Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.
  • Hiring, development, promotion, empowerment of managers or specialists.

 

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Travel:

  • Position based in Sherbrooke or Lac-Mégantic.
  • Occasional travel in eSolutions furniture’s facilities and distribution center or any other
  • professional travel needed for the position.

 

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment.

 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
  • Infrequent heavy lifting.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, industrial engineering, supply chain management, logistics or related fields;
  • Over ten years Logistics, Distribution, and Supply Chain experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff;
  • Excellent communication skills in English;
  • Verbal and written communication in French would be an asset;
  • Strong sourcing, contracting, and negotiation skills;
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, multitasking and organizational skills, with attention to detail;
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Significant experience in ERP and TMS (Transportation Management System);
  • Budget and P&L experience.
